Syntax

Caption text
Command Description
ooc Display your own OOC screen for your current character
ooc <character name> Display the OOC screen for another character
ooc <object> Display OOC information about a item you're carrying

Default

If you type ooc with no character name after it, you will get the ooc information about your own character. When viewing ooc information about your own character, you will also check to see if you have any unread mudmail.

To change your real name and/or email address, use the chfn command.

Characters

By default, the only information displayed by this command is the name and title of the character you are checking. Even this may not be viewable if the player of that character has turned off the ability to view his or her ooc information.

The player can also choose to provide additional information. If selected, the time and date of that character's last logout can be displayed.

If the player has used the describe command to add customized information, quotes, etc. about his/her character, it can be viewed using this command. A player might also choose to use this section to list common playing times, whether or not the character is a gender bender, or other information important to anyone who might RP with that character.

Objects

Lastly, the OOC command can sometimes be used to determine certain information about certain items. Determining if something is autoloading, or non-transferable can be important to some people. This use of the command is free to everyone and can be used on any item in your inventory. When used on armor, clothing, weapons and held items it will attempt to tell you what guilds can use the item and at what levels if such restrictions apply.

Be advised that the guilds and level information is not an indicator as to the item's power, as often an item's power is related to the area in which it is found or other factors at the time of its design. Also, the information SHOULD NOT EVER be used in an IC discussion about levels or advancements and also it should not be used as an IC indicator of another person's level. This is provided for quality of life so you can make determinations as to what gear you can expect to be able to equip if at all and when.
