Shops

There are many types of shops in Threshold. The type you will use earliest in your life are NPC run shops where you can sell goods, armor, equipment, etc. Such shops are generally located in the largest cities and they allow you to sell the loot you gather in your explorations. You can sometimes find gear there to purchase, however the most valuable stuff is usually taken elsewhere to be sold in more specialized locations.

Taverns, Coffee Shops, and the like are special types of shops called pubs where you can buy food and drink. Food is an exceptionally important part of Threshold (for healing), so you will probably use such shops pretty often as well.

Perhaps the most interesting shops though are the player owned and run ones. These are uniquely designed shops that are owned by fellow players, and the employees and staff are players as well. They add a lot of character to the game, and they are an important part of the player run economy.
