When Blessed Adventurers die, they are brought back to the mortal realm by the Goddess Vivoria. This accrues a karmic debt upon their soul that must be repaid to her for this gracious, blessed act.

If you possess Karma, you can see your current Karma by typing XP.

While your character has Karma, you will continue to gain XP and can even level up. Your earned XP will be split 50/50 between repaying Karma and gaining XP toward advancement.

  • All bonuses to XP gain, such as from buffs, will be applied first, before the experience is split between Karma and XP.
  • XP Split, however, is applied after Karma has been deducted, on the remaining regular XP.

Karma is accrued at a rate of 50% of your next player level cost each time you die to a cap of 200%. Assuming you have made no XP gains, your Karma accrual would look like this after 5 deaths:

   Example:

   XP Required to level: 10,000

   Death 1 - Karma = 5,000
   Death 2 - Karma = 10,000
   Death 3 - Karma = 15,000
   Death 4 - Karma = 20,000
   Death 5 - Karma = 20,000

The following situations will not accrue Karma:

   * Being lower than guild level 5
   * Forgiveness (help forgiveness)
   * Death, Where is thy Sting? toggle (help toggles)
   * Dying to an invader
   * Possessing a boon (help boons)
   * Possessing a Cycle of Life (help death consequences)
   * Experiencing Vengeance (help death consequences)
   * Experiencing Kismet (help death consequences)
   * Being slain by another adventurer
