Favor is a source of power for the Deities of Threshold that is generated by various activities of the faithful. The Gods compete with each other for favor and in turn mortals tend to compete with each other as well. This competition exists at both the Church and individual levels.

There are many, many ways to generate favor. Among them are:

  • Communicating with your fellow faithful. (Coming Soon!)
  • Phylacteries (sacrificing your daily Phylactery of Worship).
  • Blood Favor (slaying monsters).
  • Sacrificing valuable items (bloodjewels are especially valuable sacrifice items, but anything of value generally qualifies).
  • Religious tasks (pilgramages, etc).
  • Recruiting new members to your church.
  • Many religious ceremonies.
  • Idols and Relics.
  • Many, many more systems and player behaviors.

We keep the exact mechanics secret, and the exact moment-to-moment results are deliberately delayed and obfuscated to prevent gaming the system.

Favor is part of a monthly competitive game system called the Favor Battle. That is an *OPTIONAL* competitive game system with individual and church based leaderboards. Every month a special event, Divine Audience, takes place where rewards and Divine reaction to the Favor Battle takes place. This is a combination roleplay event and reward ceremony for people who CHOOSE to participate in this competitive system.

Other Benefits of Favor

The "Favored" Church is whoever is #1 in favor and is generally considered the most dominant and active faith. The "Highly Favored" are the top 33% of all Churches in favor.

  • If your church is dominant, any time you kill a monster, 10% of its dropped coin is calculated and contributed to your temple as a tithe. This, however, is only a mechanic of partying. It is to encourage grouping with your faith-mates, but it will work regardless of the religious makeup of the party.
  • If your church is in the top 33% of the favor race, you will receive a bonus to the possible number of resources gathered. This is cumulative with clan dominance bonus.
