Those who wear the ebon cloak, colloquially know as the Thieves Guild in the game Threshold, comprise a notoriously secretive and deadly society. Known for stealth and deceptive tactics, thieves make for formidable and unpredictable opponents. Their guild hall is rumored to be located in Sable.

Admission information

Due to the (allegedly) illegal and nefarious activities of the guild, thieves are careful and precise when it comes to allowing newcomers into their ranks. Those who wish to don the ebon cloak must obtain permission from someone ranked high enough in the guild.

Upon completing heritage, those who wish to undertake this arduous task should proceed with unwavering discretion and caution. Applying to the guild is a quiet process, not announced by shouting or publicly declaring intent as this will only anger the guild and most likely result in your character's assassination.

Instead, applicants are encouraged to seek out a private conversation with someone who wears the ebon cloak. Be prepared to give a detailed account regarding yourself, your history, and why you seek to join them. Afterward, patience is highly encouraged. The master thieves and guild master all have a say in who is, and isn't, admitted. Many successful careers in the Fighters Guild have been born from Thief Guild rejection letters.

Joining the thieves guild is not automatic. It is a difficult process that requires effort and imagination on your part, along with a lot of patience. The process is designed to weed out candidates who have traits ill-suited for theft, espionage, and deception. You will have to roleplay gaining admittance to this guild, so do not pursue this type of character unless you are ready to expend effort in order to gain admittance.

In the rare case when prospects are unable to locate a member despite days of patience, scouting, and discreet information gathering; sending a detailed application letter is considered an acceptable, if lesser alternative. (Go to the post office and type: mail masterthief.) Your letter should include the steps you went through before you were unable to discretely seek out a wearer of the ebon cloak. Resorting to mail first before exhausting other options is frowned upon, and may result in automatic rejection.

Rogues and Thieves

Rogues and thieves cannot be friends. They do not trust each other enough to clan nor party together.
