It is an enormous responsibility to form a Clan. One should not embark upon the journey of clan leadership without a great deal of consideration and planning. The requirements to form a clan are:

1) Your Clan must be approved in advance. The application must include some basic information and then the Official Clan Charter. Supplying the following information in exactly this order, numbered and organized in this exact way:

  1. Name of the clan (read: help clan options).
  2. Appearance name of clan (read: help clan options).
  3. Type of Clan being formed (read: help clan types).
  4. Who the four founding members will be. (denote founder)
  5. Region where the clan will be formed.
  6. A one or two sentence SUMMARY of the clan's THEME (not the creed!).
  7. The Official Clan Charter.

THEME: A good clan theme can be summarized in one or two sentences. If you are unable to summarize your clan's theme and purpose this succinctly, you need to come up with a new clan concept. There is nothing wrong with an elaborate clan theme, but if it cannot be summarized briefly then it will almost certainly fail. (Please add this in numbered order to your application.)

CHARTER: The charter should be no more than a couple pages in length (shorter is fine) and must lay out a well developed theme and purpose for your clan. Simplistic, generic themes like "a bunch of friends who are loyal to each other" or "we work for the forces of good/evil" will not be approved. You may include details about membership requirements, initiation procedures, rites, ceremonies, clan creed, etc. in this section as well if you like.

To submit your clan proposal in game, type: clanapproval

2) Four people are required to form a clan. These founding members must be in a party and the leader of the party will be the founder of the clan.

3) All members must be at least guild level 5.

4) Forming a clan requires an initial tribute of 100,000 coin to Vindicator from the bank account of the founder. This cost can be shared by the founding members in any proportion they desire. Simply give coin to the founder immediately before forming and have him or her deposit it in the bank.

PROCESS OF FORMING A CLAN

The process of forming a clan works as follows:

1) Proceed with your group to the Hall of Clans in the area of Threshold you wish to be your clan's region of origin. They are located in Sable and Thrace.

2) All four members must then: beseech Vindicator

3) The founder will then be asked a number of questions that configure the initial settings for the clan. This includes the name of the clan, the type of clan, the way the name appears (known as the appearance name), and both the primary and secondary clan colors.

4) Once the clan is formed, the members will need to pay annual clan tribute as well as annual personal tribute to have full access to clan functions.

REGARDING CLAN NAMES

The clan name is the simple, shorter name by which the clan is known. This name is used as the prefix for your channel, for example. If you plan to have an elaborate name for your clan, you should figure out a way to use one or two words of it as the clan name, and use the appearance name for the longer and more descriptive name. The clan name must be 20 characters or less but the appearance name can be as long as 30 characters.

WARNING

Failure to remain true to your clan theme can result in your clan being disbanded and abode deleted. This clan system does not allow the type of generic, uninteresting associations that were common under the old system. Clans that devolve into trying to "win Threshold" rather than being an interesting and creative aspect of the game world will not be tolerated. By creating a clan, you are agreeing in advance that this determination is the SOLE JUDGEMENT of the administration. We are fair, but we will not let this feature rich clan system be ruined by people who make a mockery of it.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The clan system is designed to add yet another layer of depth to the role playing environment of Threshold. You should not form or join a clan simply to have more people to get gear from or to help you gain levels.

This clan system was developed to provide enormous amounts of customization and flexibility so players can create some truly interesting and memorable organizations. Don't let us down!
