Timezone command
You can set your timezone via the timezone command. This will be useful for a number of upcoming features.
If you have set your timezone, others can see what your local time is via the ooc command, making it easier for them to determine likelihood of you being active and wanting to play with you or schedule events.
In addition, the date command will now show your local time in addition to the server time for your convenience.
Syntax
timezone - View your currently set timezone
timezone set - Enter a prompt to set your timezone
Setting your timezone
The timezone command is very specific about what it needs in terms of format to set your info. You will be asked for the hours offset from GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). The offset is the number hours ahead of or behind GMT.
The following guidelines apply:
- If you are in a time zone that alternates between Daylight and Standard time, you must select the offset during Standard time, even if you are in Daylight time presently.
- You must include the + or -. Exception, if your are in GMT, you must select +00:00.
- The offset hours must be entered using the 24-hour format (aka military time) and
- Must include a preceding zero if less than 10, and
- Can be in partial hours, like 30
The timezone command will then list a number of matching timezones, select the one that is most appropriate for you.
