Physical
Physical damage types are those which are typically delivered by the swing of a weapon. They are also the most common damage types used by monsters within the game, apart from their special attacks. Certain spells and abilities also deliver this type of damage, depending on the nature of the spell.

Non-Physical
Non-physical damage types are more common in magical attacks such as those done by mages, psions, or monsters such as elementals, evil wizards or magical traps, although it is possible to incur these types of damage via physical attacks, though rare.
