King's Brief: Crim188-1p

==========================================
 Docket Number: Crim188-1 - Rex v. Krypt
==========================================
 Brief for the King, submitted by Dynauld
==========================================

If it pleases the court, I wish to state the Justicars' case against a most fiendish individual, the Mage known as Krypt. As this is not the first case made by the State against him, I am sure you are already well aware of his past, but I will restate some pertinent facts for your edification.

Krypt is a devoted follower of Set, and his fanaticism is a credit to his faith, but his method of worship is not. This foul defiler of Calypso's gifts to us all has somehow decided that Set requires the ritual sacrifice of Paragons, preferably Paragons already weakened by the hostile forces in the Sablean countryside, or ones so relatively untrained as to pose no threat to him.

In such a weakend state did Krypt find citizen Isaghal on the 18th Day of Tempest, 188. Mage Isaghal was resting in the pleasant Meadows to the east of Sable, when Krypt entered. No greetings to a fellow Guildmember, who he should respect and aid when needed. No offer of aid, nor even polite companionship did Krypt tender to young Isaghal. Rather, bolts of mystical force and an Oaken Staff were his greetings, his respect, and his Guild honors. Isaghal, caught completely unawares by this treacherous attack, and having been attacked previously by those rogue creatures roaming the Meadows that breed faster than the citizenry can quell them, was quickly sent to Mortis.

Did Krypt then feel any remorse for his crime? And pity? Nay. Instead, Krypt engaged in his ritual sacrifice to Set of the body and soul of Isaghal, broadcasting the rite to everyone in Sable, and publically gloating about the murder in the same means. When asked about his confession by me, Krypt responded within the Guild by saying: 'There are more warrants on me now than I can count. The law means nothing to me.' This disrespect for life, property and Law in Sable can not be allowed to run rampant in our Kingdom, oh Avatar of Bilanx. Surely the innocent blood of his victims cries out for Justice, for the Law to take action and prove that vicious attacks of this nature can not be tolerated.

I urge the Court to deliver the maximum punishment possible to this scourge, both for this offense and all his past offenses, which in his own words are beyond his count. Let him find the Death that he finds so glamorous and attractive, that he claimed publically was a wonderful state. Let him go to Set, in fact, and see how Set recieves him, for Sable should desire no more of his foul company.

 Brief for the defendant, submitted by Krypt

Do not disturb my presence in this realm, for it is I who have been sent to teach the hypocrites that they can no longer refuse their true nature. The attempts of this pitiful justice system to blockade my purpose, the purpose of Set, can never succeed. Only Set himself can alter my path, any "punishment imposed by mortals would be fruitless. Fear me not and accept the growing evil in all of you. Don't deny it, I see it in your speech, your actions, and your soul. I'm sure the Lord Set sees it too, and if He ever had a whim to even look upon you hypocrites, I can ensure you that his wrath would be infinitely greater than mine.

Judgment: Crim188-1j

 Docket Number: Crim188-1 - Rex v. Krypt
==========================================
 Decision of the King's Bench
==========================================

As Krypt has offered no defense to the accusations levied against him, judgement is entered against him by default.

Further, since he has expressed brazen refusal to recognize the rule of law in this kingdom, he no longer enjoys the protections of the law as well.

Krypt will be executed in the public square, and from this day forward will not be protected by any arm of justice or government of the Kingdom of Sable. Any criminal or civil wrongs committed against or upon him will not be actionable in this jurisdiction.

So ordered this 9th Day of Tempest, 189 in the Kingdom of Sable.
