Judgment: Crim182-3j

Rex v. Xiphias

Facts: The defendant committed an assualt and battery against the person of Oobtaj the Footpad. Before any charges were filed, the defendant plead his case before a justicar, wherein he admitted to the crime and essentially requested leniency from the court.

Decision: It is certainly true that the crimes of both assault and battery exist in this realm and as such are proscribed by the powers of the realm. It is not necessary in this case to address the elements of these crimes as the defendant has admitted to committing them.

While penalties will be applied in cases depending on the various facts and subjective severity of the crimes, it does not seem necessary here to pass an onerous sentence on the accused.

Judgment: Defendant is guilty as charged. No penalty applied due to the defendant's good faith and timely confession.
