King's Brief for the Prosecution of Wyden for Aggravated Assault and Robbery of Kayia
In the year of 245, the Sorceress Kayia and Wyden, the Paladin of Erosia, had a minor heated discussion in the tavern that involved snippish remarks of both sides but nothing remotely amounting to a serious insult.
Shortly afterwards, Kayia was carrying very valuable equipment (including a bloodied and enchanted jet black mantle), when Wyden attacked her repeatedly, defeating her in battle and granting mercy. Wyden took all of the valuable equipment and destroyed it.
In the discussions with the Justicars, Wyden showed no remorse whatsoever. He did not deny the attacks and claimed that since no one died in that incident, this would be a "open and shut case of assault" and that he should receive the standard 500 slag assault fine.
The circumstances of the incident, the repeated attacks, the valuable equipment involved and the lack of remorse make this a serious criminal act. Wyden showed no respect to the Judicial system, he bullied Kayia, used his far superior power to cause her a serious loss and physically hurt her substantially.
The Justicars ask the Court respectfully to find Wyden guilty of aggravated assault and robbery and order him to repay Kayia her financial loss in addition to any punishment. The Justicars want to stress that Wyden's point of view towards the Judicial system amounts to the utmost disrespect towards the Court and ask the Court to consider this in its decision, as well as the fact that Wyden is charged for acts of bullying and worse crimes in several cases at the same time. All of these cases seem to form a pattern - in many cases Wyden doesn't deny the fact that he unlawfully took or threatened a life. Violence seems to be his way of dealing with people he finds himself in disagreement with. This attitude towards life in the City of Sable is not acceptable, and Wyden needs to be punished harshly to make him aware of his errors.
